Want your social media content to stand out? Try These 13 Strategies

Social media is an essential tool for small business marketing efforts. With the number of social media users expected to reach 4.4 billion by 2025, there are plenty of opportunities to put your small business in front of your potential customers. However, it is important to know how to stand out from the competition.

To help, 13 members of the Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) have each offered their best advice on the following topic:

“How can small businesses differentiate their social media from that of their competitors? How will this help them stand out? »

Here are some of their top tips.

1. Be kinder

“Be more enjoyable and interactive with your audience. What I mean by this is that whoever is the manager, owner, or staff that manages the social media of the small business should post about themselves personally with the business. People like to see who runs the business behind the scenes. Once they get to know you, like you, and trust you, they’ll likely support your small business. ~ Fritz Colcol, simply Thalia

2. Promote your company culture

“One way for small businesses to differentiate their social media from competitors is to promote company culture rather than just products. This will help them grow faster as more people will be interested in working for the company and it will create a community that will attract the attention of potential customers and investors. ~ Alfredo Atanacio, Uassist.ME

3. Highlight your specialty

“Small businesses can better showcase their specialties. The big brands must appeal to the greatest number of people. Small businesses can choose a niche and then target buyers for that audience. They are able to be more specialized than a major brand. People who work in this specific field will be more attracted to smaller companies due to the specialization compared to big brands. ~Mary Harcourt, Cosmo Glo

4. Show what makes you unique

“Most small service businesses have very different content potential than their competitors, so they should use it. If you’re a restaurant, showcase your unique menu items. If you’re a gym, showcase some of your coaches or clients. If you’re an agency, showcase some of the work you do for clients. The list goes on.” ~Andy Karuza,

5. Use humor

“Humor! Compare the marketing of radio ads or early TV ads to today’s ads and you’ll see that people don’t really care about products, service specs and benefits or even cost. They care about the brands with which they connect. Humor connects. We don’t laugh with our haters. We hire brands that make us laugh! ~ Jonathan Sparks, Sparks Act

6. Adopt a “People-First” attitude

“Create your social media marketing strategy with a people-centric attitude. Don’t just use it as a promotional tool. Be available to your customers 24/7, even though that may mean a hiring across multiple time zones. Respond quickly to your users to dispel their doubts, confusion, or even thank them for their feedback. 7. Stay consistent

“Staying consistent in your social media design, voice and brand messaging will help your small business stand out from the competition. Consistency will help make your brand identifiable to potential customers. ~Kristin Kimberly Marquet, Marquet Media, LLC

8. Be proactive

“Be proactive with your social media audience and followers. Go beyond engaging them by making them feel valued. How? Give them the opportunity to share their opinions and thoughts on a particular topic. a dialogue between your subscribers and gives you the opportunity to get meaningful feedback on your services and work on them as you go. ~ Candice Georgiadis, Digital Day

9. Be authentic

“The average consumer is savvy, especially digital natives. Be authentic. If you try to be someone else or copy someone else, you won’t build trust with your audience. Also, don’t be afraid to let your audience get to know you. Be personal and approachable. People want to do business with those they know, like and trust. 10. Talk about benefits

“Small businesses can stand out on social media by avoiding talking about the features of a product or service, and instead talking about the benefits. What problem does your business solve for the end user or customer? 11. Create a strong brand identity

“The key to any campaign is a strong brand identity. Create a separate logo. Introduce the office dog. Choose an image filter or a unique hashtag. 12. Humanize your brand

“One way to make your social media strategy stand out is to put a human touch on your marketing efforts. Instead of just using it as a medium for promotions, use it to humanize your brand. You can do this by hosting live sessions to interact with your audience, introduce your team to your audience, etc. Such things attract attention and also help you get more engagement. ~Thomas Griffin, Optin Monster

13. Use polls, votes and giveaways creatively

“Think creatively. Use polls, votes, and giveaways. These are tried and true strategies, but they aren’t really used on the whole.
