The role of social media platforms in disseminating information [Infographic]


Although social media seems enough an informal setting for news, it has become a primary source of information for many.

With 68% of South African adults logging onto these platforms to get their daily dose of news stories, it’s hard not to consider how news publications have chosen to adapt to this type of media distribution.

On the one hand, they should take a more user-friendly approach to:

  • produce news content
  • tell stories and
  • distribute reports.

However, as we all know, no two social media platforms are the same. This means that these publications must go further and adapt their reports according to the style of content and the functions of each platform.
