SMPTE invites submissions for Media Technology Summit 2022

SMPTE, the home of media professionals, technologists and engineers, today announced its call for technical paper submissions for its annual conference, renamed SMPTE Media Technology Summit 2022, October 24-27 at Loews Hotel. Authors of proposals selected by the SMPTE Summit 2022 Program Committee will have the opportunity to present at the premier global forum for the exploration of current and future media technologies, content creation, image and sound, and the arts and related sciences. Submitted papers should be informative and should address technical theory, research, innovation, application or practice specific to one of the evolving technologies associated with the media and entertainment industry.

Paper proposals are due April 30. General topics include:

· Digital and advanced cinema;

· Streaming, artificial intelligence in content creation, cloud media, image-related computing, media supply chain, research and academic work;

· Remote production;

· Dissemination progress;

· Themes of sustainable development;

· Technical leadership and industry change;

· Future of the media;

· Esports and games;

· And others.

Previously published, product-specific, commercial, sales or promotional articles will not be considered. Student papers are strongly encouraged.

SMPTE Storytellers are short personal stories that highlight the more human side of the SMPTE community. Ideally, these stories are motivational, inspirational, compelling, personal, visionary, or a combination of these. Anyone interested in becoming a SMPTE Storyteller at the 2022 SMPTE Summit should send their name, title, and 1,000 words or less of the main points of their story to [email protected] by May 15.
