Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday that the government is moving in this direction in which content creators / publishers get a fair share of revenues from social media platforms. The minister was speaking at the Aaj Tak Agenda.

Publishers around the world have demanded a fair and transparent revenue sharing mechanism from social media platforms.

“Not just in India, this point of view is developing around the world. All societies face the same threat because this technology has no borders and it is all pervasive. The whole world agrees that there must be some responsibility for everything that is posted on social media. Second, who is responsible if someone’s name becomes controversial. And finally, who should get how much for the content, ”the minister said.

“I’m glad we’re moving in this direction where there is trust between users and media, and content creators / publishers get a fair share of the revenue. “

On the issue of organized social media trolling, the minister said the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Data Protection Bill recommended that social media identifiers be verified. “It’s a demand that comes from all over the world. In the digital world, every activity can be traced. And the platforms will have to share information about the user whose contact details are requested, ”said the Minister of Information Technology.
