Joy Media Content Broker (part-time)

ROLE OVERVIEW

Based in Melbourne, JOY has traditionally produced content locally by our wonderful volunteers and small paid content creation team.

Leveraging digital streaming and podcasting channels, JOY has grown into a global media organization. As part of this, we reach all parts of Australia and the world through our app, media player and podcast library, in addition to third-party apps such as iHeart Radio and Tune In Radio.

With this reach comes greater accessibility opportunities to use JOY’s platform for members of the LGBTIQA+ community and various groups across Australia.

By encouraging and facilitating the inclusion of remote content creators, JOY Media will become a content aggregator, as well as a content creator. In doing so, JOY will become even more diverse, inclusive and representative of the wider rainbow community, many of whom do not have access to our physical spaces at Victorian Pride Centre.

To help build and maintain relationships with content creators and content providers located in various locations, we are now looking for a new member for our team, known as JOY Content Broker.

The Content Broker will work with JOY’s content team and the wider Australian community to build relationships to seek out, encourage and facilitate relevant content for the LGBTIQA+ community and our allies.

The content broker will bring this content to our broadcast and content teams to share across our various channels. The content broker will work with industry stakeholders, individual community members, remote, rural and regional people, organizations and all levels of government to encourage engagement with JOY’s content team and platforms Media to share their important messages.

If necessary, the broker will also connect individuals to JOY’s support services, including training, to best ensure that new content creators receive the skills and knowledge to support their content creation.

Working with the JOY Content Matrix, the broker will identify gaps, including underrepresented demographics and geographic locations, targeting these communities to encourage and support participation in our platforms.

In addition to general interest content, the broker will focus on covering issues of interest to Indigenous Australians, young people, aging communities, people living with disabilities and multicultural and multi-faith people in the LGBTIQA+ community. The Broker will be the bridge between our current team and underrepresented communities, building diversity, inclusivity and participation in JOY content.

Working with the Executive Team, Content Team Leaders and Content Creators, you will manage and continue to develop JOY’s content offering, ensuring it reflects the needs and represents the diversity of our LGBTIQA+ community and our allies.

All job holders at JOY are expected to perform their duties in accordance with applicable organizational policy and procedures and relevant ACMA and ACAA requirements; meet minimum performance standards and ensure compliance with JOY Melbourne Inc. rules of association; comply with health and safety guidelines and instructions to ensure a healthy, safe and environmentally responsible workplace; and cooperate with and comply with equal opportunity legislation.
