[Funding Opportunity] Advancing English for Media Literacy in Kazakhstan
The English Language Regional Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy in Nur-Sultan is pleased to announce a call for proposals for the design and implementation of the Advancing English for Education project. to the media in Kazakhstan. This twelve-month program will provide media and anti-disinformation training in English to a Kazakh audience using the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) of English for Media Education and Development. English for Media Literacy for Educators designed by the Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs. (CEA). The supplier will be required to use the pre-developed RELO programs available for the use of the facilitator. In addition to the training activities, the provider will also be responsible for the implementation of the programs in schools and universities. Program activities will take place in cities and towns of Kazakhstan.
The aim of the MOOC for Media Literacy program is to equip teachers in Kazakh schools and universities and their students with the necessary tools to access different types of mass media in the 21st century. Participants will learn to discern real and fake news and become better consumers of traditional and social media.
ECA’s Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) help pre-intermediate, intermediate and advanced learners improve their English skills in five major career areas. Each MOOC is self-paced and lasts five weeks. MOOCs on Media Literacy will be the online basis for this project. To complete the program, participants will take the course in their free time and meet professional English teachers twice a week. Teachers will help participants register, complete and receive a course certificate. 100% of participants are expected to complete the course. The number of participants for each cohort will depend on the overall amount of the scholarship awarded to the provider.
