EditShare optimizes the multimedia technology stack and enhances the creative remote workflow experience

EditShare has announced significant updates to its FLOW multimedia asset management (MAM) and EFS shared storage systems. Available today, the new version brings enterprise-level availability and redundancy to FLOW, ensuring continuous and exceptional system performance and availability from acquisition to archiving. The high-availability FLOW platform also introduces a host of user-centric updates, including new Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve panel features and proxy support that further simplify remote working. Complementing the enhanced creative experience, EFS administrative features save time and provide smart shortcuts, system transparency and automation, bringing even more efficiency to the workflow.

“This release builds on the proven success of the high availability capabilities of EditShare’s award-winning EFS media file system and the company’s commitment to delivering open systems that optimize the integration of innovative third-party solutions,” said Sunil Mudholkar, Vice President of Product Management, EditShare. “With a new enterprise-level high availability architecture in FLOW for the cloud and on-premises, we enable greater scalability and resiliency and provide customers with an end-to-end workflow solution that maximizes availability using the wide range of tools they already know. and love.”

“Like many markets, the media industry is embracing cloud platforms to enable better remote working and collaboration, trends that are here to stay,” says Frank Della Rosa, Director of SaaS Research, IDC Business Platforms and Ecosystems. “The EditShare platform is a key technology tool that makes it easy to collaborate and securely manage content from anywhere. The company’s continued push towards the development of open solutions is a major benefit for customers who wish to expand beyond traditional media workflows.

FLUX High Availability
FLOW’s high availability is achieved by giving its central database multiple points of redundancy to mitigate hardware or network failures that could affect the accessibility of the MAM client during active productions. In accordance with this, FLOW’s services are scalable and presented as multi-instance and redundant elements within the overall system.

FLOW Panel Improvements – Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve
EditShare’s NLE panel integrations bring the benefits of FLOW directly into the user interfaces of Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolves, allowing users to access FLOW functionality without leaving the familiar NLE environment.

  • Users can now swap FLOW footage directly with Adobe Premiere Pro and Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve using the new FLOW Cuts List import feature.
  • Extended metadata support allows team members to add metadata information to sequences, including custom fields. This improves and enriches the metadata associated with the sequences.
  • AirFLOW now displays sequence metadata in its user interface.
  • Improved media reconnect logic automatically imports and links high-resolution source footage located in a project’s complex folder structure after a proxy edit is completed.

Support for multiple proxy formats per clip
In addition to standard streaming proxies, FLOW can now generate additional high quality ProRes and H.264 proxy files. This simplifies reconnection to complex clips with multi-channel audio track layout in remote workflow scenarios

Support for DNA storage archives
FLOW now fully supports the latest version of DNA Evolution from Storage DNA. Users can easily archive and restore FLOW assets from third party LTO / LTFS and disk levels

Messaging and guides integrated into the application
EditShare builds on the momentum to deliver better web user experiences to customers through the use of in-app guides and feedback messaging capabilities. As the company brings more and more features to the browser-based experience, its goal is to guide those users to new features and solicit feedback directly in EFS Control and FLOW.
