iPhone 3G – Wifi and LEAP authentication tip

Well I jumped on the bandwagon and replaced my aging Motorola Razr mobile phone with an Apple iPhone 3G. One of the first things I tried to do was connect it to the wireless network at work which took me a while to do. Here is the tip that may save you some time:

  • The network name is case sensitive!
  • If the wifi uses LEAP authentication, select ‘WPA Enterprise’ or ‘WPA2 Enterprise’ from the security options.

Didn’t work for me. We use LEAP. Won’t connect with iPhone, but will connect with my personal Mac laptop.

the iphone is a piece of plastic suitable for shallow people who care for looks and design more than content and quality. i just got one and it’s the worse phone i ever got and here’s why:
    1) i had to search the internet for information on how to put the SIM in the iphone. what the F$$$? i’ve had so many phones and it’s always obvious how to do it.
    2) when i turned it on it wouldn’t do anything… except show me an icon of itunes and a picture of a usb. i called my telco. they told me i have to install itunes on my computer and synch the phone with it before i can use the phone. i asked “what if i don’t have a computer?” the answer was “can’t you borrow a computer from a friend?”. What the F$$$? i need a computer to start using my phone? i want to turn it on and start using it!
    3) i gave the iphone, and HTC touchscreen and a Nokia to my nephew who is relatively technical for his age. asked him to try to surf on each phone. he had no problem on the htc and nokia but did not know how to do it on the iphone. do you know why? he’s never heard of Safari. What the F$$$? do you need to know the name of the browser to surf? why can’t they just say “internet”?

so all these people above that said “best phone and also very stylish”… come on… can you do anything useful on that flashy piece of plastic or do you just stare at it all day and perhaps slide your fingers on it and get a buzz?
or did you just buy it so that everyone can see that you have one.
    some people…
